MADRID (Reuters) – The number of registered unemployed in Spain fell by 76,782 people in December, or 2.41 percent compared to November, leaving 3.1 million people without a job, data from the Ministry of Labor showed on Tuesday.
It was the tenth consecutive month of falling unemployment and the lowest in December since 2007.
Spain added 70,814 net jobs during the month, while about 102,548 people are still included in the state-supported leave program, 35,000 less than a month earlier, according to separate data from the Ministry of Social Security.
Thus, the number of registered workers increased to 19.84 million, which is a record for the Spanish labor market, according to the ministry.
