HTC Vive reveals VR handheld tracker for Focus 3 headphones

has discovered a handheld tracker for his . The device is 85 percent smaller and 50 percent lighter than the Vive Focus 3 controller.

The brand says the wearable device can follow your hand from fingertips to elbows. Focus 3 cameras can monitor self-monitoring LEDs. As such, attaching the Wrist Tracker to the item allows the headphones to track it with six degrees of freedom.

With the help of high-frequency IMU (inertial measurement unit) data and an advanced kinematic model, the Focus 3 will still know the exact position of your hand and wrist when the tracking device is out of sight of the camera. It can also predict your posture, so if, for example, you reach behind your head with a tennis racket to play a kick, the headphones should still have a good idea of what you are doing.

Vive Wrist Tracker will be released in early 2022, starting in the US. It costs $ 129 / € 129 / £ 119. HTC Vive has also unveiled new additions to the Focus 3, including a multi-battery charger and a charging case, in part to reduce downtime between sessions.
